    I have been smoking a few virginia/perique blends forever (about 40 years).
    I never could (just me) adjust to burleys. Although I do like English blends.
    I have been a poor soul of the economy for the last few years and recently came up with some extra cash (enough to replenish the hole in my cellar and anticipated re stocking). I had no idea, but...
    Where has all the virginia gone (especially virginia/perique blends) ??? Local B&M's are out and internet is out.
    Is there some kind of fad going on that a guy on the border didn't hear about ???
    (sure glad I joined this forum)
    I expected to pay a premium (with .gov taxes and all going up) but OUT ???
    Help Please.

    Escudo, Reiner Long Golden Flake and Rattray Marlin Flake or Hal O The Wynd seem very available. Why smoke anything else?

    What are you looking for that is "out"? There are lots of VaPers out there -- tell us what you like and can't find and we will be able to give better recommendations.

    Tons of available Virginia and VaPer blends available. McClellands makes several, as does Cornell & Diehl, JF Germain, Sam Gawith. My favorite VaPer is GL Pease's Telegraph Hill.

    Yes, there are some blends that are unavailable but there are some (most) superb Va'& Vapers that are readily in stock. If your favorites are OOS, why not try something new?

    thanks for all the responses...
    internet wise,
    penzance = out
    escudo = out
    2015 = ordered
    c & d = out (wanted to try the "new to me" JnPlug)
    st james = out
    McClelland Christmas = out

    maybe I'm looking in the wrong places

    Thanks again for the help

    Muddler,
    I doubt there is a blend I haven't smoked in over 40 years. But I am willing to hear your suggestions. Not an a fan of drugstore aromatics (other than that, I'm game)
    ps, I cut my teeth and tongue on mid's cherry blend in the 60's. (same memories as strawberry hill and swisher sweets, if you know what I mean)

    4noggins has Escudo, GLP Jack Knife Plug (2 or 8 oz), McC Christmas Cheer, and St. James Woods in stock. Plus they give our members a 10% discount with the code PSF. ;)

    dmkerr,
    Thanks amigo... I prefer flakes or coins.
    I'll give you the reason.
    Where I live the average humidity next month (and many months) is about 10 percent. Temps (outside) run between 30's to 60's. Dew point is often in negative numbers. In a pouch, it is next to impossible to keep tobacco fresh for the day. I have no problem "rubbing out" flakes and coins. (IN fact I enjoy it).

    thanks again

    Thanks Moo,
    Probably shouldn't have thrown Penzance in there... but couldn't resist (it appears to be unavailable though).

    Hey Highway,
    Your Virginia/Perique journey may begin and end with Davidoff Flake Medallions. Absolutely Brilliant.

    Try B & B tobacco, or really anywhere for those.

    THIS SHOULD BE A STICKY, along with other discounts PSF members get at other places.

    Is it only on tobacco?

    I have, within the past two weeks, purchased the following highly regarded and very popular VaPers:

    A&C Petersen Escudo Navy De Luxe
    Cornell & Diehl 067: Bayou Morning
    Dunhill De Luxe Navy Rolls
    Dunhill Elizabethan Mixture
    McClelland No. 2015: Virginia Perique Flake
    Rattray's Marlin Flake
    Rattray's Hal O' The Wynd
    Rattray's Old Gowrie
    Solani Blend 633: Virginia Flake w Perique

    Three of them are flakes, two are curly (coins). (All from smokingpipes.com, just out of current personal preference.)

    I think they also have a popular bulk ("top 10 bulk blends") VaPer at lower cost in stock.
