I recently obtained some C&D Big N Burley, and I can only get it to behave in a cob. In my MM CG it burns and smokes nicely, but in any of my briars it burns quickly and gurgles. Does anyone have experience with this blend? Should I just smoke it from a cob?

I can't say I have experience with that blend, though it does seem odd that it gurgles in a briar, as Burley is generally known for smoking pretty cool and dry. Still, if it does well in the cob, why fight it?

I have a CG dedicated to burley. My C&D BF #2 doesn't gurgle in the cob, but it needs a lot of pipe cleaners to clean up after.

I've never had a gurgling problem with Big-N-Burley, but I smoke meerschaum 99% of the time.

But I agree with Herb - just smoke it in your cob if that's where it performs its best.
