N those wee hours of the
    night when your brain wanders
is when I had a thought last
    night. Scary, I know.

As most of us know, rectangular
tins don't hold a seal as well as
circular tins. We also know that
VA blends expand the sides of
    a tin as they mature.

Would a mostly VA blend eventually
compromise a g&h or SG tin
at some point? Can anyone with
an older tin like this verify that the
    seal holds?
I know that my four tins of Dobie's
    Mild Navy were compromised, and
they were still in their sleeve.

I guess a few years in the tin
wouldn't be bad, but at some
    point, one should move the
    Contents to a jar.

So just a ponderance for you
    all on this fine Friday.

    Enjoy your pipes!

Check 'em frequently. I only have a couple butera tins and good ole' navy flake in the squares.

I've had bottles of home-brew wine blow their tops, but not tobacco. However, close by is an old concrete air-raid shelter from world war two - with two foot thick walls, so if anyone wants to send some tins for safe keeping......I'd be happy to oblige:th1:
