    I just dont get it.
They seem to taste like dirt to me.
I havent tried a straight burley before becuase of this.
But when I taste it in the 2 blends I have tried with burley,Stonehaven and CH, I only get a virginia and dirt taste.
Anyone got some advise on a straight burley that would taste nutty like everyone else seems to be able to taste?

Solani Aged Burly Flake brings me many smiles.
Also, Wessex Burley Broad Cut. :thu:

Try a blend with kentucky in it, or a darker burley. Very, very different flavor than the normal variations.

What you need is a bag of Uhle's Blend 00, available from www.uhles.com. Has a touch of sweetness to it. For the true nutty burley, look no further than their Perfection Plug Burley. Two of the best burleys on the planet.

If Stonehaven doesn't cut it for you, not sure you will get Burleys. Some people just don't like them. Then again, some have to come back to them. I didn't like them at first either, but after 6 months of smoking, I tried Solani Aged Burley Flake and love it. After a few tins of that, other Burleys came around for me.

    Agreed!

Unfortunately, as was pointed out above, if you don't care for Stonehaven, you may just not like burley at all. Still, Solani Aged Burley Flake is fantastic, and worth a try, I think, even if you don't like other burleys.

I've never had that problem re taste and burley. My first intro was CH and then Stonehaven. It has become a favourite. I prefer burley to virginia, most of the time.

Scotty's Butternut Burley, perhaps? I get a "butter pecan" taste from it.

I second what DmKerr said regarding Uhle's (#00, Perfection Plug, and #300).

If you want to try something a little different, get some Uhle's Blend 44
It's a VaBur that comes off a bit like CH with a dash of Middleton's Cherry Blend - but better (imho)

You might just want to stop trying for a while, enjoy the blends that you do, and then give burley another time in the future. Your preferences will often change over time. Good luck!

Just my 2 cents regarding Stonehaven: it is NOT what I think of when I think of burley. I know that it IS burley, but it's just not the same beast as any other burley in existence.

These gents are right on about Uhle's. If I had any at the moment, I would send you some in a heartbeat, but unfortunately I don't. It's worth getting your hands on some though, because I really believe that if you don't like their #00, you just might not be a burley person.

I agree with goat and gahdzila:

You should give Solani's Aged Burley Flake (ABF) a try. It's a bit
pricey - but a truely wonderful smoke. :)

This thread is proof positive that all burleys are not alike. You're just going to have to try all the suggestions and see what works. What a shame, eh? :beck:
