It's a bit middle of the road for me, but it does have a lot of fans.

I've got a tin I've been waiting to try. IMO, Germain's product may be the overall highest quality out there, so I have high hopes. I'll toss in my $.02 when I get around to opening it- I've got a few other things I want to finish first.

I don't think Pelican is a Germain blend. I think it is a Stokkebye blend. Kingfisher is a Germain blend. I think most of the other Butera blends are from McClelland.

Me too. I assumed that because the Esoterica line is blended by Germain all Butera was, also.

Not quite bad enough to make an ass out of us this time, eh KP?

The tin of pelican I got today had the same sticker on the back that all the esoterica tins have on the back, so either things have changed and germain Now blends pelican, or they always did. ICBW.

I've only had a little, but I liked it quite a bit. Nice latakia.

    Only one way to tell...

I opened a tin last month, needs a little drying time but it's definitely a high quality oriental-forward blend with just enough latakia to balance the blend in my opinion. I preferred it to Presbyterian and personally I think it might even be a little better than EMP (a little fuller, more sour-nutty and less sweet to my tastes).

Its a very nice blend. If you like an Oriental-forward English blend, you'll love it.

this tobacco had been laying around my local shop for ages and I honestly knew nothing about it being that the japanese warning label covered half the tin lol, anyways, I was looking for something new to try today and after turning the tin over and seeing that it was blended in Jersey I realized it was a Germain blend and kinda flipped out because you can't get any of the esoterica tobacco's here. Well...This stuff is fantastic! after I was able to get it to lit that is, I'm drying some out now to see how the second bowl smokes :D

Hey there buddy, yah I'm still alive but need to get on here more often lol

anyways, smoking my second bowl now left out over night and seems to be better behaved from the beginning. To me, this is one of those tobaccos that has a sweet spot about half the way down where the flavor intensifies and I'm guessing the viriginia's kick in- delicious! I had no idea this stuff was so hard to come by in the states until reading through these posts, fortunately for me most Japanese smoke aromatics and the "good" stuff sits in the shop to age- the same 5 tins were sitting there at least 2-3 years lol I think they have kingfisher as well so I'll have to pick that up and give it a review. Their still not importing night cap though...lol
