Beautiful pipe, but I'm with you, I doubt I'd smoke it if I had it.

That does look nice, however I would be too afraid of it breaking to ever take it out of the case!

    RE: Vulcanite, Acrylic.

Ever wonder why all meerschaum pipes come with a acrylic stem? Can someone tell me.

    Ol Brokedik.

A co-worker of mine is married to a lady from Turkey. He recently visited there and I asked him to please bring me a briar back. His wife's uncle and he went to see Altinok at his home where they had tea. This is the pipe he brought me back.

He said the price was very similar to what is advertised, but Medet is one of my favorite carvers and I think it's neat that he actually got it in Turkey.

That pipe is f--king mad. You'd feel like a fantasy king straight out of Lord of the Rings smoking that bad boy.

Thanks. It's a very neat (and finely detailed) pipe.

Great looking pipes! A lot of detail in the carving...

Never thought about it before, but you're right... and nope, no idea why.

A true work of art, but not my style. Meers seem too delicate for me, and some of the carvings, especially the men's heads, really creep me out.

Hmm, I think they are more sculptures than anything else. Very nice to look at, but if I had one, I would probably keep it behind glass.

I own an old Meerschaum given to me years ago. It is stored somewhere in my vast junkroom for stuff I thought I would never look at again. I will have to dig it out, see what the hell I have, take a few pics, and let you guys assess it for me. Coming soon, from...........

Telltime that is one awesome Meer!! Let me ask you? How often do you smoke it? Does it leave the house? Just wondering, Beale.

I have not smoked it yet, but I will... I have no problems carrying it out of the house. It came in a nice fitted leather case.

It's not that I'm "avoiding" smoking it, it's just that I still have a few new pipes awaiting breaking in + my regular smokers ahead of it. I only get about one bowl in a day (if I'm lucky), so pipes make it to rotation slowly.

Back in the 80s, one could still smoke at work... I think that went away in about 1990/1991. If I could still smoke at work, I imagine I'd smoke at least four bowls a day, and pipes would make the rotation faster. But as it is, I get to them much more slowly (but I do get to them).

This one still has a couple ahead of it (namely the Falcon, esp. with a special bowl with a wind-cap that someone on this board made - PERFECT for Autumn!).
