The little misses and my two boys want to get me a pipe for Christmas. i get to pick it myself. what I want some information on is brands. I want to keep the price around $100.00 including a tin of OGS. I want a full bent billiard, brandy, or egg shape pipe and it needs to have some "pop" like my six year old says. What brands are worth considering. Too many for a new guy pick between, this will be my first new pipe.

In my opinion, Boswell is a well made, hand carved pipe made here in the USA. Some of their pipes are out of your price range, but others are right at or slightly below $100. If you give them a call, they would be able to tell you if they have something that would fit your description. Check out their website http://www.boswellpipes.com/index.html

I'm sure others will be on and have many more recomendations for you. There are MANY great carvers out there that fit in your price range!

Smooth, sandblasted, or rusticated? Any of the major brands would have good pipes in that price range, Peterson, Stanwell, Savinelli. Lesser known brands have just as nice of pipes for sale, for around the same price; Brebbia, Vauen, etc. I would go with a Pete for your first new pipe, something about the nostalgia of a Peterson, just can't be beat. I'm sure you'll find something you like!

Vaquero gave you some good advice. You should be able to find a really nice pipe in that price range. As far as brand is concerned, you will find a lot of opinions here but I would recommend you pick the one that appeals to you.

Go with a Pete. Can't beat the history and quality for that price.
