$50 but I had to add the expense of hauling it away. Decided just to keep my own, as it was already there.

Fill it up and use it as a landmine in a paint gun contest.

    Good find, dmkerr.

With one exception, I've yet to have much luck with garage or antique sales. The few pipes I've come across have mostly been heavily-abused junk. And I haven't come across any tobacco. I did, however, pick up a Castello and a Soren at an antique store earlier this year. $50 for both. They've cleaned up nicely and smoke great. That'll probably be enough for me to continue looking around.

I keep waiting for my Uncle to have a garage sale because he has a collection that started in the 60's and is still being added to. He won't do it though. That damn Scrooge will probably have it all buried with him when he goes. lol

Oh I was talking about his pipes. He can keep his M79 and Borkum Riff.

yeah, i'd like to try a tin of FD to see how much it's changed since 1968--

the first thing i would have hit was those "crappy pipes in crappy condition"--pearls grow in slimy oysters--

Let's just say that a replacement stem for each of them would have cost twice as much as a new version of the same pipes. Once the pearl is removed, all you have is slime. :ohyh:

Great score! I've never seen anything like that at a garage sale before!

I think about all the pipes I've seen years ago at garage sales and cringe now. God knows what I've missed...

    Nice haul, btw.:th1:

no argument here--i just think of the 'old wood' which makes expenditure on stems sometimes acceptable-- for me the 'cured old wood' is the pearl --
