    My fellow pipe smokers

I'm sure this has probably been posted here before, but I found it to be a good read about corncob pipes and general toby practices.

    Hi All,

This is my friend John L Patton's Primer which I mentioned in the "Companion." Not everyone agrees with Old John's ideas, but all I can say is following John's methods got corncobs to work for me, and I think it's some of the best advice I personally have ever read on the subject.

John's tobacco blends are also pretty good!

    Best to all

I really enjoyed his advice letting it dry longer than you think you need to, packing it lighter than you think you need to, and puffing slower than you think you need to. I've never been one to dry my toby before I smoke, but I think I'm going to start. Tried it last night, for about 45 minutes with Captain Black White and it wasn't too bad.
