When it comes to meerschaum pipes, I’ve always preferred a smooth finish to those that have been carved. I sent a drawing to Best-Meerschaum’s asking if it was possible to make a colossal, smooth pipe from one block. A few weeks after contacting them, they said yes, well here it is, the bowl is 4” tall and 2” at its widest, the shank is six inches from heal to stem, overall the pipe is 10” long.

Now that is a pipe! If you need any help smoking it in and colouring it just post it to Scotland!

As usual, many happy years with it,

Look on the bright side D, you have an interesting pipe, and if you ever quit smoking you can plant a rosebush in it.

That's one beautiful meerschaum! I love the smooth, unadorned classic look. Makes me think of the centerpiece for a modern design show.

What tobacco are you going to spend the afternoon smoking in that "Mercedes of Meers"?

Enjoy it for many moons, even if that's how long it takes to finish a bowl!

I agree, the simple look is really commanding especially compared to the carving on that one with the "coupling couple." What's the lettering on the mouthpiece? I can't make it out. Everything about this pipe is beautiful.

Here’s a shot of the pipe next to a 15oz coffee cup for perspective.

Nope, one day I may empty the bowl after filling it onto a scale and find out. Can say it takes about three hours, give or take to smoke, letting it rest a few time through the bowl
