    I guess I better make a serious post here. For those not in the know, Club is a sort Danish take on a Va/Per. It's sweet as hell, but rudely spicey too. Very strange stuff that has transmogrified from a Virginia to some other plain. I don't know why I like it so much but I do.

    Wife hates it. I mean... she really, really hates it. She also hates Kingfisher, so that tells a guy the quality of woman, or the quality of tobacco. Maybe both....

    Club blend was my first pipe today. Good stuff. Reminds me of the pipe tobacco my grandfather smoked.
    I smoke it outside and the dog really likes to smell it also :puffy:

    For me, I wouldn't classify it as rudely spicy--just does't hit my sensors as being anything other than sweet and satisfying, but with a nice VA taste. Wife hates it as well. Go figure.

    Just did a comparison smoke of Club blend and Roll cake. Very similar, roll cake is a little less sweet and has almost a latakia hint and you can pick out the burly addition pretty easily too (like a hint of Irish Flake in it).. Club lend is more virginia forward and why it seems sweeter. They are both incredible in my book. Roll cake is is a little more complex and deep of a smoke.

    Club Blend = great on a summer morning/day
    Roll Cake = great on a summer evening/night

    Im very quickly becoming a Mac Baren guy.

    Has anyone smoked Dark Twist roll cake? Thoughts?

    Dark Twist is more virginia-y yet. It has less of the "patented cavendish" (each roll of Roll Cake and Club have a bullseye of dark fermented toby). DT is more like 50/50. It is sweetened with a tiny bit of maple syrup and has a tiny bit of anise for flavoring. This straight from a MB tin (in some countries they have to announce all the additives) - I would never have guessed either. The net effect of Dark Twist is something like an oatmeal cookie - sweet, a little bit spiced. It's quite rich, good after a turkey dinner.

    There's other totally ignored spun cuts too - the Latakia Mixture is stupid good, just slightly fuller than club.

    All in all, my favorite little corner of the pipe tobacco world, by a long shot.

    OOooh theres a latakia spun cut?!?!? oh man, im in deep now! haha. yeah, each day i smoke the club and roll, i seem to unveil a new dimension. The first time I smoked em I liked it and thought i knew what it was all about, but each time a new layer stands out to me.

    Have been putting off trying this...after all, Sas recommends it.....how good can it be?
    Well, there's (hopefully) some in the box pass. Guess I could risk this old battered cob with a bowl.
