A ways back Doug posted up about some mods he was doing to cobs, involving a new maple or cherry shank with custom stems. He eliminated the cavity where the filter would normally sit in a stock setup. In that thread I asked if he could do Nosewarmers. We talked about it via private message and hammered out the details. Today, the pipes showed up, a Country Gentleman and a Spool.

I smoked a bowl of Angler's Dream in the CG just now.

The proportions are perfect, very pleasing to the eye. The bit is a wide saddle style and is super-clenchable. The draw will make you weak in the knees, it's PERFECT. I smoked it fast in my excitement, but it never got too hot, no gurgles, just smooth sweet flavor. Someone else mentioned this, and I agree, the maple stem seems to absorb any moisture that the bowl doesn't. I really can't say enough good things about this pipe.

In summary, these pipes ain't nothin but the truth and everyone NEEDS one, even the cob haters. At the price he's charging, you can't afford not to have one. I nominate Doug for Cobsmith of the year.
