That's an odd one. I'm picturing someone having to clean out each of those holes in the cap, and shuddering. Demuth had a wide range, that's fer shure.

Only the duck sauce, Snakel. There are few practical reasons for that era almost-nosewarmer pipe to be in Traverse City, MI, in that used but loved looking state. Some fellow spent a lot of time in the marshes (more likely than the woods) with that pipe in his mug and his pocket...

I think there may be an outdoorsman or two here to whom it could appeal.

Interesting. Agree....cleaning it could be a pain... Looks cool though..... Wouldn't want to have to relight it. I bet the cover gets pretty hot.

Too cold up there for anything but ducks, icefishing, snowshoeing, and drinking back in this pipes day.

I guess it's a decent alternative to an oom paul with the built-in cap and chain, right?

Oh yeah...... that would be simply great when hunting or fishing actually. I grew up not to far from Traverse City. Its likely the previous owner was avid about both duck hunting/deer hunting as well as fishing. It doesn't look like it would be hard at all to keep clean either as some may assume.

I'm gonna give this find some serious thought. Thanks for the "heads up" Mr. Moo

Does N. Michigan = U.P.? Isn't that where "The Grand" is?

I know this mainly because I fell in love with Jane Seymour in that chick flick "Somewhere in Time." Actually, I fell in love with her in Roger Moore's first Bond movie (Live and Let Die), and that made me willing to go see "Somewhere in Time" when I was 13 and sisters wanted to go see it.

And a friend of mine that I was stationed with in the 90s was from somewhere in the U.P. He didn't speak too badly of the women.

The U.P is the You Pee, home to you-pers.
    N. Michigan is usually taken to be the upper part of the lower peninsula.
The Grand is neither UP nor lower peninsula - it's on an island, Mackinac Island, which is pronounced MACK-ih-naw eye-land. That's about the limit of my expertise except, if you make the mistake of stepping outta your XC skiis up there to brush off, you can go in over your head and disappear.

I'm just saying it's kinda chilly up there - cannot REALLY verify about the women one way or the other from personal experience. Been a buncha Swedes and Finns up there for a long, long time. I'd have to assume from that the women must be about as warm as average - maybe more, maybe less. :dunno:

    Got it, Moo... I think.:dunno:

Not seriously askin' about the women. Been married to my lovely wife for over 11 years, now.

Just trying to joke a bit. There are pretty folks just about every where. Well, except maybe some parts of Montana where one of my brother-in-laws is from (he tells me in Montana the men are men and the livestock scared!).

I'd just pop the cap off at that point, or not use it

Yeah, Michigan duck pipe threads are usually pretty touchy.
