    People also set the initial bid very low with a reserve to attract attention ("wow, a Savinelli for 99 cents!") and to get people emotionally involved in the bidding, so they eventually bid the price up because they can't stand to lose (what krusty said, basically). There are many reasons to stay away from reserve auctions.

    Enter a bid with the maximum amount of $$$ you are willing to spend on the pipe. If the reserve is still not met, you don't lose a dime. If it meets the reserve, you have a shot at winning it.

    Like Goat said, it will be in the $50 range or higher for that one.

    Nice looking pipe... I tend to stay away from reserve priced pipes. THey typically go for more than what I would pay for an estate

    Buyer should see this "reserve" before first bid.
