Hi, I believe that MacBaren- HH Vintage Syrian is an English. It was my first English and I liked it tremendously, I still do.

My favorite English is Dunhill London Mixture, and I realize it is hard, if not impossible to get. SG Squadron Leader is likewise good, but hard to get too. The Rattrays are very good, but are Balkan/Oriental blends. Lots of people like GLP Westminster, but doesn't ring a bell with me. The Frogs were originally marketed as "crossover" blends, ie not aros, but not true English either.

You won't mistake with all Frogs, Squadron Leader, McClelland's bulk 5110 and something from 4Noggins (so far, I didn't find Richard's bad blend)...
