I just won this auction. It will be my first briar after I get it and clean it up.

    Did I do alright?

Probably. It certainly needs some clean up work on the stem and in the chamber, but the supergrains are pretty nice pipes.

Good to hear. It was kind of an impulse.

That's a little more than I'd care to take on without the right power tools but when you get done with it I'm sure it will be a source of pride. Odd how this hobby we see as promoting contemplation can lead instead to impulse buying.

I just "won" four more pipes, great deals all. (+ shipping) It's a sickness I tell ya.

For 10 bucks you really can't go wrong. Should clean up and polish out nicely.

$12 shipped for a nice old Kaywoodie pot? Yep, not a bad deal. It'll be a good crash course in restoration too :) Got a buffer?

It showed up today. I haven't had a chance to get down on it with a buffer, but I've worked on it a bit. Reamed it a bit. Left a little cake. Cleaned up all the gunk on the rim with 0000 steel wool. Worked on the stem oxidation for awhile, got it off the mouth piece mostly, I'll finish the rest of the stem soon. Took almost thirty pipe cleaners to get one to come out clean. I used bristle cleaners at first, then alcohol-soaked regular cleaners, then dry. I smoked a tiny partial bowl, it's gonna be hard getting used to the huge-wide chambers. My cobs have much narrower chambers. I'll post pictures when it's pretty. It's pretty dinged up, so it ain't gonna be perfect.

It's dirty, but looks very solid; albeit a few tiny fills. I've gotten a lot worse in estates. Congrats on your first! Search the forums for how to restore it. There are plenty of good tips to be found.
