Guys, I just made my first pipe purchase on eBay. I'm wondering if I got one that is worth a hoot. The seller was advertising it as a Wally Frank White Bar, but the only stamping on it is "White Bar".

Do any of you fellows have experience with this brand? Is it really a Wally Frank? Is it a White Bar second? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for that link, Woody. You put me on the right search path, and I found part of the answer to my question. It is a pipe sold by Wally Frank. This site didn't help me with anything but identification, though.

I would still like to hear from anyone with experience with this brand. Thanks.

Wally Frank sold gagillions of pipes. If you visit Chris Keenes pipepagesdotcom and look under Tobacconist's Catalogs, you'll find lots of information, maybe not on that particular pipe, but you'll get a sense of the scope of pipes that went through Franks.

    Edited to add, http://pipepages.com/wfpp4.htm

In 1939 those pipes cost 5 bucks. That was a pretty steep amount of money to lay out for a pipe.

I had heard this. Wally Frank never manufactured a pipe to my understanding. My experience with WF's is that they are most likely seconds. Most of the one's I've seen are chock full of fills.

It was a BIN OBO sale, and I couldn't resist making an offer. I'm a sucker for square shank billiards and sandblast finishes.

I don't know what happened while I was posting this link. I edited it 5 or 6 times, and I couldn't get it to behave. Great resource. Y'all should check it out. I'll try reposting it tonight.

That's probably similar cost to a Dunhill at that time.... Looks like a very good pipe to me.

If it smokes half as good as it looks you've got yourself of heck of a pipe! I love square shanks too.

Well, I am super happy with the pipe. It is most definitely unsmoked, and the finish is smut black matte with a sandblast. It seems like a perfect pipe for Stonehaven, so that's what I'm smoking in it right now. I think I'll dedicate it go stonehaven, at least until I run out.
