Well, I made my very first tobacco order from Smokingpipes.com today.:thu:

I may have went a bit overboard but this has to last a while till I get the opportunity to order again. After house insurance, car insurance, property taxes and on and on and on..... :thdn:

    Mac Baren Plum Cake................................100g
Mac Baren Burley: London Blend..............16 0z
    Mac Baren 7 Seas Black..............................8oz
    Mac Baren 7 Seas Red.................................2oz
    Mac Baren 7 Seas Gold................................2oz
    Orlik Golden Sliced.....................................100g
    Peterson Irish Flake....................................50g
    Rattray's Old Gowrie...................................100g
    Villiger 1888: Late Night.............................50g
    Peter Stokkebye Luxury Navy Flake...........16oz
Cornell & Diehl Dark Cherry Cavendish.....1oz

Most all the aro's are the wife picking out stuff she wants me to try!

BLB because its the first toby I tried and still one of my favorites.
PS LNF, OG, OGS are WyoBobs fault!! :D

I wanted to try the Peterson Irish Flake because someone has a thread about how strong the nic hit is, and I need something to keep me off the cigs.

    So far so good!!

All looks good to me. Hopefully you'll love the OGS and Old Gowrie, I do! Maybe that was the wrong thing to say...

I traded with WyoBob for a sampler of all his tobaccos, OGS and OG were in there. I have been rationing them, along with the PS LNF because those three ended up being my favorites and given the chance I would fill my pipe with one of those three every time I picked it up!

Great collection i dont want to sound rude or anything but what would an order like that set you back over there? I could by a new car for that in Australia a 2oz pouch or tin is $38 to $42 that should keep you going for a good while.

    Oi!

Can you order on line from the U.S. and have it shipped there cheaper?

I tyried with cigars but most dont turn up and if customs pick it up it's about $350 a Kg i'm told that they weigh the entire package not just the tobacco. nI might order a pouch and see how it goes.

I'd have to make friends with someone on a shipping line and have them bring me 20 lbs of bulk. I feel for you having to deal with prices like that.

I think the unofficial limit is 250g for Aus. I have had packages arrive with customs inspection notices, maybe 2 out of ten orders. Just a note inside saying they inspected it. Each inspected order contained 200g in pancake type tins, bought from smokingpipes.

Customs duty is now more than $400 + GST /kg. I use 200g as my limit and all is good.

All told it came to $151.10 and 61.6oz. I guess most of us in the states dont realize what folks in other countries have to deal with!! I think the most expensive tin on my order was the Old Gowrie @ $16.67. No sales tax and no shipping.

On the flip side, you got one of the coolest countries in the world IMHO. Australia is the only country I actually want to visit. Not likely to happen, but it'd be nice.
