I saw this Shadow box at an Irish Pub called Claddagh in Toledo, Ohio. I couldn't help but show you guys this little piece of pipe and tobacco history!

There's some pipe and tobacco stuff on display in an Irish pub near me, It's a shame to have to sit at the bar and stare at it without being able to light up while I'm enjoying a pint!

Ok , I'm wondering if the shadow box is screwed into the wall or not . How is it fastened ? ;)

Is there a story that goes along with the contents of the display?

I'm pretty sure it was screwed to the wall.

I couldn't tack down any history on it, I wish I could have, I also could not make out the markings on the pipes to see what brand they were or when they were made.

You don't fool me, ruffingold. I know where you're going with this. What you need is a diversation. Bring with you one of your not so smart buddies and have him make some disparaging comment about the Irish. You'll have more than enough time to figure out how to remove it.

Well the last time I was there a friend of mine found a typewriter in display by our booth. He grabbed it off of the shelf, started typing, took it apart, and put it back together, and no one said a word. haha so it wouldn't be too hard to take the shadow box. Hell, I'll even help! :ohyh:

Were you able to ID the pipes? Left looks like a Pete system. Right kinda looks like a white spot, but did Dunhill ever do a stem like that?

Oooh I could use one of those Erimore tins if the tobacco is in it. Especially if it's a Murray tin...

Actually, I'm interested if anyone there knows the history of the box. Was it put together of from a long-time patron's collection after he died and hung in his memory?

If it's like what's at my local, it was probably bought from some picker by an outfitter that dresses up retail stores with vintage stuff.
