He guys I'm looking for a good Virginia. I was looking at MacBaren HH Matured Virginia. I've smoked just about everything, but I want to focus on Virginias for awhile. I'm trying to wean myself from Sam Gawith. I don't have the time or money to stockpile it.

    McClellands Blackwoods Flake

Hmm... just realized that I don't smoke too many straight virginias anymore. Nowadays, it's mostly Lakelands or Vapers or Burleys. But the above are two of my non-Gawith faves.

I was looking at the GH dark flake and was wondering if its as heavy as 1792? Im interseted in Veermaster, but afraid it would be another one I would have trouble finding on a reg. basis

Hamborger Veermaster is my favorite Virginia, and I would not be that concerned about availability yet. Availability seems to be the opposite of SG. Samuel Gawith stuff is rarely available, and comes in stock in small quantities 2-3 times per year. HV is available most of the year, is available in bulk and only runs out between shipments 2-3 times per year.

If you are a real HV nut, you can order $90 bulk load from Dan in Germany direct. Well, you might need to know a little German too.

Dan is sort of "iffy" now........ no US distributor to carry the leaf. So, what's on the shelves is what's there until a distributor comes forward.

Try some Blackwoods Flake (tinned), or 5100 (bulk). Those two will give you a good intro to McC. virginias.

I was reading about the 5100. I couldent decide between the 5100 or MacBaren HH mature.

It was a lot, but it was in metric, so don't remember exactly; more than a pound. I have a secret eTailer squirreled away that has some HV in stock. I have almost 2 pounds in the cellar, so I don't mind sharing. You should keep it a secret though.

I'll probably buy some more poundage either when it is shipped back in or direct from Dan in Germany. If your B-I-L is in Germany he can buy it in smaller quantities. Dan's site just indicated you had to buy a minimum bulk if they were shipping to another country.
