I just found out about this place @ horseshoe bay area. It is technically a non-smoking area but I doubt anyone will check here..

Sonsw87, is that around the point from Whitecliff?

Pictured below: the smoking area at Sasamat Lake (White Pine Beach) in Port Moody; you can guess where I set up! Coincidentally, Port Coquitlam (my municipality) still allows for smoking in parks and public places - just not within six meters of doors, windows or air-intakes or in a place of business. I spend a lot of time on the Coquitlam River trails with my pipe; netting more compliments than dirty looks and fake coughs.

Unfortunately, I live in Kerrisdale area of Vancouver. There is nowhere within walking distance that allows smoking, so I just smoke on the streets. Of course, that violates the 9 meter rule -- so I guess I'll have to walk down the middle of the road (is there a law against that too? <g>)
