I have smoked just about everything under the sun in the past year, including all the GLPease stuff I want to try, but I haven't smoked a lot of C&D blends (yes I realize C&D does GLP).

I have been smoking more burley and aro's since picking up the cob and am interested in your C&D recs for pleasant cob-puffing. All rec's will be considered (Va, VaPer, Engish, Baltic....) and I have plenty of briars too ;-)

    Thanks!

I like Pennington Gap in my cob. Its a burly based aro.

I must give Briar Fox a nomination. I know it's a Va blend, but I had to let you know. It is a really nice, robust, earthy, woodsy cake tobacco. Mmmmm....good in Cobs and Briars alike!

I have also tried Sunday Picnic, which is a good Va-Turkish blend and I have heard very good things about Burley Flake #3.

    Good luck on your search!

Virginia Gentleman is decent. Its mostly Virginia and Burley, with a bit of Oriental thrown in. If you let it age a bit, it only improves...

Byzantium is a nice Latakia/Perique/Turkish blend, in my opinion. Star of the East is another good C&D blend. Let me know if you'd like to try a little of both. I also have a little Bayou Morning, and I'm not a VaPer fan, so I could send some of that too.

I also have some Dark Burley arriving today, and it's supposed to be good, but I have not tried it yet.

Burley Flake #3, Big-N-Burley, Oriental Silk, Exhausted Rooster, Americana, Burley Straight, Opening Night are the ones I smoke that I can think of off the top of my head. No idea how they smoke in a cob, though.

Respect the BF3 and BNB - they are loaded with nic.

Pegasus is a top notch c&d burley blend with a bit of a kick. I just ordered a pound of it a few minutes ago. One of the Runowski blends patterned after a codger tobacco of yesteryear, i forget which one tho.

Oh and jsut for the sake of complete disclosure, I dont own a cob :)

I´ve tried Billy Budd, Pirate Kake, Burley Flake #4 and some blends from C&D:s Captain Earle -serie (Ten Russians and Honor Blend). They all are smooth and strong at same time. I guess that´s because there are no additives, but that really is just wild guess.

    Pirate Kake
    Oriental Silk
    Byzantium
    Exhausted Rooster
    Habana Daydream
    Kajun Kake
    Old Joe Krantz

Those are my favorite C&D blends at this time but there are many that I haven't sampled. Valle Crucis is an interesting blend with a top note of ginger.

for obvious reasons I have not been able to try too many - but I'm enjoying Three Friars enough to order another pound.

Red Odessa just tastes good with morning coffee. One of my other favorites from C&D is Gentleman Caller, a deer-tongue blend. Hubby like Engine #99.

Thanks for all the responses- lots of good recs.

Ten Russians and Pirate Kake are in my "regular rotation." Stimulus Package too (though I'm currently out).
They're so dang good they made me start this thread ;-)

Another vote for Briar Fox, one of my favorites.
I also like Interlude, which has a nice, lightly sweet honey flavor.
Pegasus was great when the tin was freshly opened. About a week later it was a little rough around the edges.
Burley Flake #2 has a very nice flavor, but a strong nicotene punch- not for the faint of heart.

An interesting blend from Cornell & Diehl is Golden Ash. It is an English mixture and I found it to be complex and a great smoke. Another I enjoy is Star of the East.
For a Burley Blend that is unique (to me) try Haunted Bookshop.
    Enjoy!

Oh yeah, I forgot about Star of the East. I like that stuff a lot. Someone gave me a bit a while back and I smoked it all up.
That'll go on the order. Thanks!
