I'm not sure why, but when I first saw Peterson's "Iceberg Collection" the Port was easily my LEAST favorite shape. Somehow I have really warmed up to it, though! I'm a little picky with my finishes, but this one looked pretty decent to me in the pictures I saw. It's even better in person - and my pictures come pretty close to showing it off I think, though as always it's better in person. Certainly a fine ring grain, possibly fan grain (since the rings widen... is that an appropriate term?). I just got it in the mail, debating what to break it in with...

Nice one. It is a little amusing how one's perceptions of a shape can change from looking at a photograph to having one in hand. I went through the same thing with a Yeats.

Better break it in with something really good... something unique and tasty... something you don't hear a lot about... a real sleeper tobacco... may be some CH?

Good Gawd, that is sweet man!
    Maybe a Va-Bur for break-in?

That may be the best looking blast I have ever seen on a Pete, congrats on a beautiful pipe.

We will see! I had thought about getting a mixed finish set (smooth, blast, rustic, ebony), but if I can find more blasts like this one... Mostly it's up to the budget, though.

Thank you and all the rest for all the nice comments. I do have some other decent Peterson blasts, but this one really is quite exceptional.

And the first bowl ended up being Penzance! It seemed appropriately special.
