So the taxes came back and my wife and I now have $xxx.xx each to spend, the only stipulation is you have to enjoy it.

This falls well within that price range, I've owned it now at least 8 times in my head. Any body else ever been there?

P.S. I'm not looking for if I should be getting it or not, just about a bad case of should I or shouldn't I youvo been through.

I don't like smooth meerschaums. Now, I don't actually own one either, but the more craggy they are, the more surface area they have to color. To me, large colored surface on meerschaum just looks like it's turning dirty. I know that probably wont sit well with some folks, but it's just my two cents. I love the shape you pointed out...but I'd love it even more if it were more ornate. More like this...

It's a beauty. Cephalopods are notorious for giving shady suggestions :D

That's a beautiful pipe. I've looked at it a few times as well and know that it would be very comfortable in my hand.
Yes, many times. So far I've stuck to my self imposed limit on how much I'll spend on a pipe although it's been quite difficult a few times.

Yep, I recently went through this whole ordeal. I had been wanting a Vauen Diplomat ever since I saw one at the St. Louis Pipe Show in February. It was a bit expensive and I just couldn't justify the purchase unless I had some kind of windfall. I was hoping that the "want" would eventually go away but it never did. It just kept nagging at me.

I finally broke down and worked some voluntary overtime and now I own the pipe that haunted my desires for the last two months.

Volunteering for overtime is not exactly my style. I don't even want to be here 40 hours a week but I have the pipe now and I love it so it was the right move.

That's a great bowl shape/stem combo. As Arnold would say "Do it now!";)

Thats a nice pipe. The only reason i would hesitate to buy it is that the bowl is both too wide and not as deep as i like.

The next one I get will have a bigger chamber. It will be a dual stem with a regular stem and a full-length Churchwarden.

    I'd get this one...

    http://altinokmeerschaumpipes.com/detail.asp?product_id=DS102

Not just because I prefer the lattice work on it to the smooth, but it is a little cheaper, so if you end up hating it you're not out as much money.

If you are going to get it, move fast cause my income taxes are coming back too! ;)

So just to get this straight, you received your income tax refund and both you and the wife have an equal amount to spend on whatever it is you want. You have found a pipe you like, it is from a maker whose pipes have a great reputation, it is available w/o waiting for it and it is within the budget allotted. What was the question? ;)
