Back in late November or early December (it doesn't matter), I commissioned two pipes from a maker here in Colorado. Chuck Long from CLLong Pipes is from Montrose, CO. and is a part time pipe maker. He's putting out some pretty decent pipes. Here are two nice examples:

A rusticated sitting billiard with matching tamper (.30-30 shell casing w/ briar top)

A paneled pot shape with alternating rustication, oval shank, and matching tamper (.357 shell casing w/ briar top)

    Nice grain on the rims

I really like supporting local pipe makers when possible.

Nice. I'm in Brighton...about 20mins NE of Denver. Chuck mailed 'em out on Tuesday and they arrived today! I've been through Montrose tons of times on my way to Telluride, so next time I'm on the western slope, I may stop in to his place and have a smoke!

I used to hit Brighton 3-4 days a week when I was a truck driver and went to Montrose once a week. Montrose is a cool town, Delta is another story....
Also adopted 2 puppies from a rescue in Brighton...
If you wouldn't mind if you could PM me his info I'd appreciate it.

I checked out his site, I like his work. Soon as the tax return comes I will see about getting one from him. I like his prices too, real reasonable. I like supporting the small business guys too. Soon as I knock over a bank I'll order a Sas too!

Always nice to support the locals! I am in Lakewood and would love to get a pipe form him or to even have some work done on a few in my collection. Times are tough right now so I have to wait but maybe someday soon perhaps.

That is a sweet pair of pipes right there and the tampers are classy too. I really like them both--the poker is nicely done and the paneled Pot from what i can tell--the front of the bowl--if all sides have nice grain like that--WOW. Most importantly--enjoy them. Beautiful pipes--congrats on getting them.

Wow...a zombie thread (returned from the grave). I suppose now is a good time for an update. These pipes are getting close to two years old now, both are in my regular rotation of smokers! Good stuff.

Those are GREAT pipes. And to me, the matching tampers are BOSS! Congratz on them.
