Just purchased this Peterson ARAN Bulldog 999 from PipesandCigars.com on Monday. Should have it by Thursday or Friday.

Swee-eet! Love me some Pete's. The #999 is a manly pipe, and Arans are great smokers. Enjoy, my friend, enjoy. Looks like it was made for an English/Balkan/Oriental blend. I recommend Peterson's Old Dublin. I think Peterson pipes and tobaccos are great values, and are some of the highest quality pipes and tobacco on the market. The only briars I collect anymore are Pete's and estate pipes, so I'm partial to Peterson pipes. Cup O Joe also has a good selection of Pete's. Anyway, enjoy that pipe once it arrives!

    Snake..."permanent ankle biter"....LM FREAKIN' AO....thanks.
RTO....I have to agree with you. I think for the money (the ARAN Bulldog cost $67.40), there's no better pipe made, then a Peterson...IMHO. My tobacco of preference, though, is good ole MacBarens Navy Flake.....thanks.

Very nice, though I'd call that a rhodesian, not a bulldog. It's got a round shank.

Thanks for the info Jim. It was actually listed as a "Bulldog", but the style said "Rhodesian".

No kidding, father's day is coming up too. My wife wants a list of things I would like, one of these might end up on that list.

I love it! Have been wanting one of these for a while now. I can't make my mind up between the Peterson 999 and the 80s. Both are spectacular shapes -- and very similar. Way to go, Nitehawk!!
