Anyone have any particular plans for their last bowl of the year tomorrow night? Or for the first of the new year? An old stand-by to get you through "Auld Land Syne?" A new blend and the symbolism that represents as we flip the calendars? Or just an aromatic to be endurable to mixed company?

Me? I have no idea. I'll decide based on my mood, though it might be nice to crack open that tin of GLP Triple Play. Or that one of McC #22 from 1999 that I have cellared away.

Good question, actually. I've recently found myslef in a query lately with tobacco selections; even for a daily pipe. And it's been so cold, damp and blustery here, it's hard to even find the motivation for a pipe.

I've got a new tin of McClelland Christmas Cheer, but I think now I'll save it for next year. I may go out on a parfait of CH, McCranies OM, and a dash of 5100 in a vintage MM General. Hell I might even toss in a pinch of STM. Or not...

My Christmas Day smoke was Christmas Cheer in a Pete 2012 POY so I'll need to do something different. Perhaps a good cigar. Perhaps my all time favorite - FVF. Yes, that it. FVF in a Pietenpauw billiard. Far more personality than a cigar.

Lekker Slaap after your last bowl and have a happy new year in about 11 hours.

My 1st bowl of 2013 tomorrow will prolly be Wessex Gold Brick to put a bright and positive spin on the new year.
Last bowl tonight for 2012's send off, hard to say. Have to be something strong and darkish to reflect the year I've had.

My mother-in-law is coming for New Years, so I'll be going with some chocolate-orange Velvet. I don't think she'll be too happy with a strong Lat blend.

    End of year, CH.
    Beginning the new year, CH.
I see no need to end a tradition.

This topic requires deep thought and introspective contemplation.:puffy:

OK, I'm done. Carter Hall. Most likely a cob, maybe a meer.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR every one.

I'm not a big cigar smoker - too dear over here!, but I usually find a big one to let the year in - while watching Jools Holland.:)

Hard to say, but 100% likely that both will be within the $177 order I am receiving from 4noggins today. :D

    I had a Stokkebye-themed evening.

Started off with two medallions of Bulls Eye Flake in the Castello G66. Finished with a heaping bowl of Proper English in the Soren egg.

Had all the social stuff out of the way early and the turn of the new year on the back porch was complemented by Waylon Jennings, Louis Armstrong, Merle Haggard, Sidney Bechet, Tony Rice, and Willie Nelson. Rounded out by Harp's lager and Bombay Sapphire gin.

God, I am the luckiest son-of-a-b**** alive. Best to you all.

Last/First ended up being Escudo. Fired up a coin at around 23:45 12-31-12 and still going in this new year of 2013

My last and first smoke, because it crossed midnight, was SG FVF in a Dawnmist clay tavern pipe. The reason for that particular choice of baccy and pipe was that I wanted to post the following ditty on the "What are you smoking now?" thread on another pipe-smoking forum I'm a member of:

    God rest you merry, Gentlemen, let nothing you dismay;
I'll tell you what I'm smoking now, on this fine new year's day -
Sam Gawith Full VA Flake in a Dawnmist tavern clay:
Blowing smoke rings of comfort and joy, comfort and joy,
Blowing smoke rings of comfort and joy!

    Happy New Year, PSFers.

12/31/12: MacB Plumcake in The Canadian

01/01/13: SWR in the Falcon Hyperbole

Time runs its normal course, and so do I. Happy New Year, y'all!
