Cool, Scott! That looks very similar to the single pipe rest / ashtray I got a month or so ago:

    Is it a Decatur?

It does look like yours Herb, it has no name on it. I got it on the bay, the seller did not list the name, but the price was right $8.95 buy it now, which I did :D

I'd bet that it is a Decatur. The edge detail and everything looks very similar to mine. They put their decal on the felt underneath, and often times it falls off. Mine still has it, and it was originally purchased at the same shop I got it from, so I know the provenance, as it were. The gentleman who consigned it to them was a regular customer who gave up the pipe after many years. $8.95 is a steal! Mine cost $20.00 (plus the cost of a new knocker), but considering the cost of a new one, it was still a bargain. I especially enjoy finding Decatur pieces, as they were made locally.

Yes, it is. I prefer them to the regular bits, and for a few cents, it's a cheap, easy mod. After smoking my POY for a while though, I think I see a Walker Forever Stem in the Gent's future. It's nice to have a vulcanite or acrylic bit on these pipes.

I finaly gave into TAD, mostly beacuse I realised while getting ready for work today that I only have a couple of bowls of tobacco left.
    so I ordered this:
Gawith Hoggarth American Sweet Peach 5g Sample
Dunhill Flake Pipe Tobacco 5g Sample
Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader 5g Sample
Peterson Holiday Season 2011 Christmas Mix 5g Sample
    Peterson University Flake 5g Sample
Gawith Hoggarth American Cherry & Vanilla 25g
W.O Larsen Selected Blend No 30 50g Tin

I also ordered two Tampers and 3 Packs of pipe cleaners

    1.5oz Wessex Burley Broadcut
    2oz GH Bosun Cut Plug(?)
    2oz SG Kendal Cut Plug

There is some question as to weather the shopkeeper mislabeled my Bosun Cut Plug or labelled the pouch correctly and gave me the wrong stuff. It tastes close enough to what I remember Bosun Cut Plug tasting like that I'm not bothered either way.

I'm not connected to WB but gotta say the newer acrylic Danish style bits totally rock! Tortoise Spear on a Gent would KILL! But then so would a vulcanite saddle...

I have Forevers on about 20 cobs I smoke ATM, about 10 more on display or in pipe limbo (unsmoked new) with Forevers.....yes, I BELIEVE in Forevers! Amen! ;). I used to make my own version of the Forevers by sanding/carving down the tenon on the MM Freehand stem ($5 from MM and about 30 minutes and patience) but the new Danish acrylics and vulcanite stems are to die for....well not really, but they're worth every penny!

Oh me? I picked up some cobs off the bay, some Lagonda, Astleys 44, Pete 2011 Holiday Season, and some more Christmas Cheer! :)

I've about decided to try a WB bit, because I went a little cob crazy today. The wife was adding up what I"bought" her for Christmas, and she told me that she felt like things should be more even under the tree, fiscally speaking. So, I was instructed to spend $180 more bucks on "some pipe stuff".

I flew to Mars and bought the following:
    General - Bent
    General - Straight
    Great Dane - Bent
    Great Dane - Straight
    Country Gent - Straight
    Diplomat - Straight
I can see one bent and one straight Danish "forever stem" in the near future.

While was there, I picked up another pound of McB Club Blend. Left there and clicked on over to SP and bought a pound of PS Cube Cut and a Pete Aran B5 I've been eyeing for awhile.
Feminine guilt is such wonderful thing sometimes.
