We, Grabow, owned the FILTO brand from about 1980 till about 1987. Bought the business from Bill Smith in Burgaw NC. We hired his son, William Smith II (orIII) and tried to sell these through coupon/catalogue offers. They flopped!!!!!! Fired the son, gave the patent back to the heirs.
Neat pipe, great stem, where are you finding filters today? ted

Walked into my B&M today to pickup my Dunhill bent brandy that I had in the shop because it needed a new stem and the clerk called me into the back room. I thought for sure he was calling me back there because they had jacked up my pipe somehow. So I get back to the table he is standing at and there is a box on it which he is standing behind grinning like an 8 yr old that just discovered his first boner. Lo and behold it was a case of original Balkan Sobranie that they had put aside for a few years and were now going to put on the shelf. He told me since I was their most regular customer (4 to 5 times a week depending on my cash flow) that I had first dibs at however many tins I wanted before they put them on the shelf. They were 15 bucks a piece so I only bought 5 of them. Got home and cracked one open, half filled my dunnie and lit it up. I had forgotten how amazing this tobacco is. I can pretty much guarantee when this half bowl is over I will be rocking a full one. Super tasty.

nice haul and so reasonable. Bottom pipe looks like a popeye pipe. Briar seems like a nice large chunk. enjoy.

The top one is a Dr. Grabow Viking with an extra bowl and the other one is a Star from England with only one bowl. They were very clean in the pictures.
Good thing is, they are coming from Glendale, Arizona which is only about 30miles away.

from Sweden, I just picked up a "Ratos", made in France. Nice pipe, and I know nothing about this name. Hope it makes it across the pond.

This one really got to me...so I picked it up! It was delivered the other day, and smokes as good as it looks. What a sweet pipe!
Made in the 20s, this is a French-made GBF Meerschaum and Amber pipe.

Built on the order of a Calabash, the Meerschaum insert unscrews from the Amber bowl...it sports a Sterling band and Bakelite stem. Like most pipes from this era (1900s/1930s) the pipe is small, but exquisitely made.
