Do you have a preferred pipe for when you are mowing or other yard work?

Since I am fighting the retirement battle of the bulge, I usually use my walk behind mower, not the rider. I usually find myself loading up either my MM General nosewarmer or a poker nosewarmer with a 7/8" X 1 1/2" bowl. Both are easy to clench and still give a good long smoke.

I usually load up a Savanelli big bowl with Carter Hall, get on my riding scooter w/o camper attachment, and watch the hired help when he mows the lawn, trims bushes and edges. I usually leave when he starts the leaf blower though.

I'm jealous of you guys that can do this. I hesitate to try it because, as I push the mower, I'd end up inhaling all of the smoke.

I use a riding mower and have been using a MM with a forever stem as my pipe. I do alot of clinching and that combo can get a case of jaw fatigue going. I smoked one of your nosewarmers yesterday cutting the grass and had a comfortable smoke in spite of my clinching. Not to mention that nosewarmer holds more tobacco. It is now my official summer of 2013 yard pipe.

Usually either the MM Pony Express or Country Gentleman, depending on how long I'm going to be doing what I'm doing. They're generally loaded with Sugar Barrel. Very hands off and maintenance free smoke, great for yard work.

There are lots of attributes to nosewarmers, but I think the biggest is the fact that they can be clenched while doing other things and not cause undue jaw fatigue,

Don't forget the "it keeps your nose warm" aspect. :thu:

That's why I like my Omega, with the p-lip stem, it hooks onto my lower teeth, and I just have to keep my trap shut to keep it in place.

I have never smoked a pipe while mowing the lawn... But if I do it will probably be the same as, no, never mind, it would be a cob with whatever tobacco I felt like smoking at the time.

It doesn't really matter which pipe I smoke while watching my wife mow the lawn.

It depends, but I have to fill two in advance, or refill the first one, I tend to go cob or a Grabow Viking, due to lighter weight, but the bowls are too small to only smoke one if I mow the whole yard at one time, with the craftsman rider

Usually an MM. I prefer those for burleys, which I usually smoke when I'm mowing just so I'll have fewer relights to deal with.
