It's time to add a new pipe to the collection so I'm asking you guys for some suggestions. I have a budget of $150 (maybe a lttile more if the pipe is truly awesome) and I'm looking for a pipe with a big chamber. Most of the pipes I have now are standard size (if there was such a definition) so I want to add a big bowl to the list. Maybe a Savinelli KS/EX or bigger? As an aside I think a big chamber goes well with DGT

I was just looking at the 320 on Cupojoes site, it comes in quite a few finishes all under your price. That chamber is almost an inch in diameter. Nice looking pipe too.

There's nothing wrong with Savinellis, and if you like the balsa system, then there's something right about them.

But for 150 bucks I know a guy who can make you a pipe just about as big as you please in whatever shape ya want. If you are in fact in Bangkok, I'd have to look into shipping options.

A Peterson XL02 it has a large bowl. You can pick the style and finish from several ranges from $150 down to around $70 NIB.

Maybe look into a Mario Grande pipe he sells on ebay and some of his pipes are just HUGE.

You could always go cheap(price wise...) with a Missouri Meerschaum General. The other suggestions look good too. (Sasquatch's self-promotion is a solid choice as well.)

I second Rug's Radice suggestion or having Sas make you a custom monster.

This ones a bit pricier, but boy is it a big one.

    Chamber dimensions are 1.15'' x 2.14''.

I just bought a Savnielli Baronet EX320 last week.
its a "ball" shape pipe - and the diameter of the chamber is right at 1 inch.
Like a previous poster said, its a sav. shape that comes in a variety of finishes and whatnot, its a nice pipe, I would highly reccomend it, and for 50 bucks its a steal.

Damn!! You guys have really got my mind wandering now! Thanks for all the food for thought, I'm going to have to decide on one but there are soooo many prime candidates. :thankyou:

BTW, Sas, I didn't even realize it was a "self" promotion until yinyang mentioned it hehe! I'm working in Bangkok now, but before my next visit back home to Toronto I'll have to drop you a PM.

Jesla, that pipe on eBay is a monster, makes the hand holding it look like a toddler's hand. The only question is with that much briar to work with, why make the chamber so small? Oh yeah, I guess because if it was proportional to the whole pipe, two bowls would be all it takes to empty a 2 ounce tin :startle:

Randy Wiley makes some good sized freehands. A full bowl usually lasts me 1.5 hours+, and they're around your price range. Maybe $15 on top of your budget.
