    I haven't really tried many English tobaccos: Just two- Frog Morton on the Town and McClelland Legends. I think I might prefer the Legends, as the Frog Morton is good but the sweetness is throwing me off a bit. Anyone have some suggestions they think I might like?

    Westminster has a loyal following. Maybe MacBaren Vintage Syrian or McClelland's Three Oaks Syrian if you want to branch out in that direction. Penzance, if you can get it. These aren't necessarily personal endorsements, just well reviewed blends.

    +1 Squadron Leader...

    +1 Northwoods (more Latakia, less layers of flavor/POI's)

    Pelican is pretty tasty, and I'm not even
    an English fan. RRR is great, but it's more
    of an Oriental.

    RRR = Rattray's Red Rapparee

    Charles Fairmorn Lancer Slices are a straight up Va/Lat blend that is readily available and a good way to find out if you like latakia.

    McClellands 3 Oaks, while too mild for me, is a very tasty blend that will carry you a bit further down the Oriental road.

    Hi.
    I believe a very important first step for you is determining which Latakia you prefer. English mixtures have Latakia from either Syria or Cyprus. There is a big differance in taste! Myself,I prefer latakia from Cyprus. Cyprian latakia has so much more flavor for me. Latakia from Syria is completely tasteless to me.
    Order 2 tins of medium strength English. Order 1 tin with Syrian latakia and 1 tin with Cyprian latakia. There are places on the Net to go for reviews of tobacco. Do yourself a big favor and do some research. Smoking English can be very rewarding. Get into it by being smarter about what you're doing.
    Don't get in a big rush. It took me a year to appreciate the English. Good stuff!
    Be well.

    My favorite English is MacBaron's "The Solent Mixture" and it's a good intro into English Blends. Also like C and D Quiet Nights a lot.

    KCPS Ringlow Syrian Reserve is a wonderful syrian blend that's full of sweet syrian goodness. Some blends will have a touch of both and that's darned good too!. Squadron Leadre is nice too but not quite as sweet as RSR.
