For the longest time I have been searching for a tobacco that would have enough nicotine to satisfy me, as well as a room note that even nonsmokers would not be offended by, and I think I may have found it in this blend!

This blend has a real tobacco flavor, with just enough vanilla present to compliment, not overwhelm, enough nicotine to satisfy, but not overdose, and a room note that is just classic, sweet vanilla pipe smoke.

I think this is the first time that I found myself ordering more of a blend while I was smoking my first bowl!

    Another great MacB blend!

I like it but it smoked a bit hot and wet the first two times I smoked it. I'm sure drying it out a bit more the next time I smoke it will fix that.

It is a favorite of mine. I do have to be careful to avoid being nipped but it is well worth the effort.

Never tried the flake variety but I keep the regular cut version on hand.

I think you could. Try a tin for starters and let it dry out a little. It is pretty moist when you first open it.

Speaking as a newbie I would say go with the loose cut Vanilla Cream to start with. There is certainly nothing to prevent you starting with a flake but they often require some finessing to get them to burn correctly etc and I would say ease into it. They are definitely worth it but require a bit more work IMO. If you find you like flakes though Erinmore is also wonderful stuff.

MacBaren's Vanilla Cream loose cut was the first tin of tobacco I ever bought just a few months after I'd started smoking a pipe. So it's not completely unfriendly to newcomers. But it did take a little learning as to how to smoke it.

The smell reminded me very much of 'Nilla Wafers.

Just for the record, I didn't really detect any difference in taste or strength between the loose and flake varieties. It was just that the flake was a lot harder to smoke properly.

Yeah I'm kind of having difficulty smoking the flake. I think it's because I haven't had any experience with flakes up until two bowls ago. I'm sure I will figure it out eventually but I'll try the loose cut for my next tin.

This was my first pipe tobacco. The one I learned to smoke with, it's definitely something I would cellar for a rainy day.

I'm almost entirely an MB puffer. And for the same reasons as yours...I smoke all their Original variants, Plumcake, and Flakes and I find them all nicely balanced in flavour and smoothness, which I suspect might be a little mild for those who prefer 'punch'. LOL
