    Like so many before me, use a folded over pipe cleaner or a wadded up paper towel to dry ream the bowl after a couple of smokes, no high tech gadgetry needed.:th1:

    I'll be! Had no idea you folks fuss with your cobs so much. I sorta watched my Graddad back in the 50's and only dress the cake in the cob bowl when it gets too thick. My cobs show no sign deterioration - none. Run about the same amount of cake in cobs as I do in briar pipes. The pipes smell just fine and smoke great. I did't realize I was ruining cobs. Right or wrong. I do believe my cobs will as long as my briars.
