... and in case anyone is curious, that's a box of Cuaba Tadicionales underneith. Both came in the mail today. :)

Very nice - I'm just starting on my new Meer, a Signature 109 from Altinok: [IMG]

I am happy to see more and more meers in classic shapes. That says to me you are thinking of them as pipes first, art second.

Absolutely! I like the looks of many of the carved pipes, but I just can't see them as smoking tools! And I love the feel of the smooth bowls in my hand :)

I do like the classic shapes, I think the lattice is nice too, but that's as fancy as I like. I would feel strange smoking a pipe with someones head carved on it.

Exactly my thinking! FWIW, I have my Grandad's old (1917) Hawkbill smooth meer, my new Altinok smooth, and a 2 year old Lattice (of not great quality but an ok smoker).

Swing by my house and I'll show ya! ;)

I'd say about 1/4 of my meers are carved pipes, and I smoke them often.

Great looking pipe! I'd love one like that. Also, Cuaba makes a darn fine smoke!

This and the one that Tnfan was showing off earlier today have really impressed me. I especially like the color and style of the stems

I have both...classic and intricately carved. I enjoy the way they smoke, and I can indulge myself with either a simple bulldog or billiard, or with a fancy claw or other figural, depending on my mood at the time.
