    I have an original copy that I found at an estate sale a few years ago. The copyright date is 1899, with an inscription "Christmas 1901" on the first page. There are no illustrations in this edition. I believe the illustrations accompanied the work when it was originally published in the St. James Gazette. I've carefully thumbed through it, but it's much too fragile to actually read. Thanks for the link, it'll be a much easier read on-line.
