With the advent of the lipless crankbaits and soft plastics, the Hula Popper and Jitterbug had to take the backseat. As you know back in the day, they were two of the best lures to have in the tacklebox. We have some of the best big bass lakes here in Texas. When I fished them, I never saw another fisherman using either lure. Their design must be 70 to 80 years old. I'll bet the fish around here haven't seen them for 10 years. Are they still producing for you?

    Ol Brokedik.

p.s. Can't wait to see your pipe using a Jitterbug.

I Love fishing with the Old top water lures !
My Old Vintage Lures work better than the new one's of same design

but kinda risky casting out my favorite lures and cross my fingers for safe return

The Grandsons know better than to snag those out of my box

It's been so long since I've been fishing I didn't know those classics had gone out of fashion. They used to work for me, can't imagine they've gone out of style with the fish.

That pipe looks mar vel ous. I'm pretty sure that the middle of the lake or ocean is the only place I would want to smoke it. :) My dogs would never quit laughing at me for playing with their toys.

I had an uncle who had a lucky fishing pipe. An ancient briar. He Smoked the pipe only when fishing, said it attracted the fish, disgusted the mosquitoes, and kept the women away from fishing.

I'll let you know how it works this week. I usually go the gummy worm or fly route. I've never caught anything using a lure. Ever lol.

Do you have any old glass eye lures? Some are quite valuable.
