The postman delivered a boxed set of clay bowls this morning, well - should be six really!, unused Viennese 'Coffee House' pipes - made in Germany in the forties or fifties, and sold here by Inderwicks of Carnaby St. London. As I type - I'm nearly through a first bowl of Condor, and heck! - it's good!.....unlike a lot of clays, this one is cool, I think I will use the others as sampling pipes!:)

Those are PRICELESS! Super nice score! I don't smoke clays, wayyyy tooo fragile for me. Gravity always wins! I'd imagine they smoke very close to a meer and meers are about as far as I go with fragile pipes. Those are winners! You gotta fireplace? Wonder if they really turn back to white after they darkened from smoking.........

    Congratz!

.....don't know if what the box says - will happen!....time will tell!....but - believe it or not, there is a slight hint of 'yellow' coming through around the shank after just two bowls of Condor!

I take it you already had that stem? Or did that come with the package? Either way, it looks like it belongs on the pipe!

.....the set had one bowl and the mouthpiece missing, the stem pictured is borrowed from a churchwarden - till I get around to making up some more to fit.

Those are neat looking...I wonder if David(Waugh) needs more ideas, but hmm...:)

I wonder why it's coloring so high on the stummel end? I'd be interested on how it progresses...since the clays I've colored all start on the bowl bottom, this is a new one to me.

    Thanks for sharing, OT!

Some fine aquisitions. Many backups to lessen the blow of a dropped pipe.

May as well toss your shorts into the fireplace to see if them stains don't burn out too! Did you at least turn 'em inside out?

You must have an interesting time sitting down.....................

Those are really cool! Did they originally come with reed stems?

....not sure what the original interchangeable stem was like, but I assume - it and the sixth bowl were well used and lost or broken, I was quite pleased with the remainder - for £8

well....PM your address - and I'll send ya one!, don't think I'll ever smoke or break all five! (but you'd need to find a stem to fit)
