I really shouldn´t have, but... My local tobacconist really has very little to sell. But they had a batch of Jirsas, and I had been looking for an apple, since I used to have one which broke a few years ago. So I couldn´t resist it. It´s a simpler model, and it came quite cheap really. Haven´t had time to try it yet, but I will as soon as possible.

Anyone here who´s got experience with Jirsa pipes? Could be fun to hear what you think of them!

Thanks a lot! I haven´t smoked it yet, but I have plans for the weekend now... Only problem is that it has a acrylic stem, not vulcanite as my old ones. But I guess one can get used to that too. :)

It's like a Czech brand or something... can't recall. But mine smoked like an Italian pipe. Very nice, and not too much money. Looks like a keeper! :th1:

Nice looking pipe, LB. I like vulcanite too, but I'd still consider an acrylic stem something of an upgrade. Looks like you did well.

Jirsa is a Czech brand. I own a 4-Star paneled, bent egg. Smokes well, not perfectly, but as good as most entry to mid-level pipes and it's fairly inexpensive.

I really like the look of that! Hadn't heard of that brand, but looks like good quality! Acrylic stems are always a good thing, for sure! Enjoy it in good health!

So, I have finally visited my "second livingroom" (the pub next door) and tried the pipe out. And I´m very pleased! It had a strange aftertaste at first, but that disappeared after about half a bowl. The second bowl tasted just as it should. When I bought the pipe the inside of the bowl was darkened with something (ash, graphite, paint, God knows what!), and that might be the reason for the initial kind of weird aftertaste. But as I said, it went away quite quickly, and after that the pipe was a dream to smoke.

Just to make the experience better the girls at the table next to ours asked what tobacco I was smoking, since it smelled so nice! They didn´t smoke pipe themselves, but one of them had given her boyfriend a pipe for Christmas (good girl), and was happy for some hints on what tobacco to buy. :)
