Was looking for a new Dunhill Cumberland but my shop didn't have the size I wanted and I saw this beauty and pulled the trigger. it came with this cool cylindrical box and registration card talking about Tom Eltang's design and shaping of the bowl, which I thought was pretty awesome since I couldn't possibly afford to buy one of his pipes lol broke her in with 1792 all the way down to a fine powder so a happy purchase :beck:

I'd call it a billiard. A "true" Canadian would have different ratios to it - longer shank, much shorter stem.

It's a pretty pipe, that's for sure! I have one mid-range Stanwell and it's great, so I can only assume yours is pretty fine as well! Congratulations on the nice purchase :)

thanks everyone, 1792 really sings in this one, I actually just had some in a different lower grade Stanwell with a larger size bowl but started getting a gurgle and not so good tasting experience so dumped it out and threw it in my 2010 and walla! completely dry smoke with the full flavor so I can definitely tell where the extra money went. I mean I barely have to draw on it to get good dose of cool smoke so I highly recommend picking one up if you can still find them. Does anyone know if Tom Eltang actually turned the bowls? I know he designs a lot of pipes for Stanwell but from the info card I got, sounded like he actually worked on them directly but can't find much information on the net.

Wow, nice pipe. I love the classic styles of pipes, sure I like the modern Danish and Italian shapes but theres something very classy about the traditional shapes.
