Here is my Ebay score which arrived yesterday afternoon. I got the five in the box for $25. They look to be in good shape albeit a little dirty and in need of a thorough cleaning. The cob has a crack at the top of the bowl that, from the seller's picture was going to send it to the trash but when I received it I was pleased to see that it's on the outside and (I think) repairable. The four pipes in the box are (going clockwise from top left):

    S.S. PIERCE WELDON
    REX FILTER 249
    STANHOPE GENUINE
    GOLDEN DAWN SAINT-CLAUDE

The one below the box is the Dr. Grawbow I got last week for $10.

How'd I do? (I hope I figured out how to post the picture correctly!)

Okay. I guess I didn't. I'll work on the photo. Sorry.

[edit] Okay. Got it! I wasn't using the direct link.

Some great scores there, be sure to post up pics of your progress with the cob and the clean ups.

It is a good looking little pipe. Fairly large bowl for an otherwise small pipe. The Stanhope has a stinger in it. I don't know much about them but from what I've been reading it seems most people tend to remove them if possible. I also read that it may help to cool the smoke since it's a pretty short pipe. Anybody have any advice on stingers?

I'm not 100% sure but from what I've been able to find I think you're right.

Nice set a little elmers glue will fix that cob right up. Try the pipe with the stinger and without smoke it the way that suits you best.
