Taking a break from the English blends tonight I'm trying Full Virginia Flake out of my Dr Grabow Omega. I am really enjoying it, it is mild with a hint of sweetness.

Sail and Old Gowrie. Tastes pretty good, smells like.... burning dog hair or something. Wife has banned me and that's pretty unusual.

SG Navy Flake in the Kaywoodie. Still tinkering with it--draw is too open. Think next time I'll try rubbing out the flake.

some of the 15 year old mac baren burley london in the new devonshire straight billiard.

i could write a five paragraph review on this stuff, but in the interests of brevity, this is miles away from the modern one (of which i'm a huge fan). tin aroma was white grapes, and i suspect a higher proportion of VA in the old one. also was actual flakes, not ready rubbed, i was very, very impressed and find myself cursing that i've found yet another discontinued tobacco i could smoke all day for the rest of my life.

    Good Morning,

Escudo in a Tinsky. I've purchased exactly one metric assload of English tobac in the last few weeks, I think my mind is rebelling, and pushing me towards a mini Va/per binge.

I love smoking in the dead of night. No busy streets, no hustle and bustle. Just
solitude, cooler temps, and quiet contemplation with one's pipe.

Oh, and some Heineken to quaff.

I just opened up a tin of GLP Embarcadero, an Oriental mix of Red Virginia and Izmir. Smoking first bowl of this mix in a Tinksy bent billiard.Tin aroma is excellent, but moisture level a bit high. I recommend drying this out a bit before packing. Flavor is interesting, like smoking a straight Virginia with condiment sprinkled all over. Personally, I would have preferred some latakia in it, but I will continue to smoke more bowls and see what we'll see...
