BTW, the blackening isn't coloring from smoking...it's more like what happens when drunks are allowed to play with lighters...I torched the bowl innards, in the dark last night to cook off some build up. I didn't notice the soot building on the outside. Oh well. You can see some of the natural staining on the stem.

Now smoking Aurora in that clay.

Yep! As should you be, O wearer of uncombusted pants.
Whoa, that thing looks well-loved. The bowl looks more black/gray than I expected, I figured it would color more amber/brown. [edit- nevermind, I wrote this before your last post popped up :)] Is it still smoking dry now that it's pretty well saturated? I wonder if the color changes when it dries. It'll be interesting to see just how gnarly you can make it, and then if you're so inclined it'll be really interesting to see what happens if you try the pipe-in-the-coals trick.

Yesterday was all day smoke with MacB HH Highland Mix in a MM Dip w/4evah-stem. 4 bowls! I've changed my mind about this new HH. It's real good!

    Today, it's been

Dunhill 965 (orlik) in a MM Wash w/4evah-stem, followed by

Dunhill Royal Yak in a Sav KC Feather wt. , now is a 3 way blend of

5100 + 5105 + Altadis Mild Burley J4, "poor man's Solani SF". The bes of all 3 are brought to the bowl and enjoyed very well.

My new from eBay Bari Wiking arrived today, so I busted into my stash of Full Virginia Flake to celebrate. Only a 1/2 flake, as it was thoroughly reamed and cleaned before shipping. What a beautiful pipe! Smokes nice, too!

And no, Yin, it doesn't have the stank of Mixture 79, but sniffing the bowl was one of the first things I did. Can't take that curse lightly, you know. ;)
