Just lit up my first ever bowl of Home & Hearth Marquee - Sweet and Savory. It's....well, it's different to say the least. I think I like it. Anxious to see how this bowl develops, and how the rest of the sample suits me! In my Ben Wade billiard mostly used for VAs.

Bought 8oz of Panzance from LJ Peretti yesterday. Smokes a bowl of it earlier tonight. Right now I'm smoking some of Peretti's house Cambridge Flake, I think that I like it better than the Penzance. Rich, flavourful and a great value too boot.

    Cheers,

    Craig

Davidoff English Mixture in my Bjarne. Haven't had this in ages! Really an unusual tobacco given the name....it's predominantly a Burley/VA blend (I think mostly burley) with just a bit of perique and almost no latakia whatever, and absolutely no Oriental component apart from the tiny bit of latakia which is barely detectable - on a good day. Scarcely what most people would call an "English" mixture, but regardless of what you want to call it, it tastes pretty nice. Smooth, rich, natural tobacco flavor. Nothing to complain about at all, as long as you can just enjoy it for what it is rather than expecting any noteworthy amount of latakia or Perique. Further confusion arises when the tin describes it as a "medium aromatic," when there isn't the slightest aromatic quality to it in the sense you'd expect. Got it to help break in my new pipe as well as to smoke in my Bjarne to cake the heel a bit post-pipe mud. I've lost the taste for PA and thought this might do the trick a little better than some VA flakes.

Just finished a bowl of Presbyterian Mixture in the Savinelli. First bowl ever smoked entirely with the adapter rather than a filter. It was a good smoke, but I do think that I really like the balsa filters despite myself!

What should I try next...I have a lot to choose from. Holiday Spirit, Exhausted Rooster, Drama reserve? Or I may go for something tried and true, like English Mixture or Kingfisher.
