    Nice! :th1:

I have a funny feeling that once you get to know that Barling, you'll be one of those guys that says that high dollar pipes smoke better than low dollar ones. ;)

My two old Barlings were the best (briar) smokes I ever experienced. Wish I had kept at least one of them but at the time I needed the money and I got over $500 for the pair.

I have'nt smoked the Barling yet, but the Wilshire is a really good smoker. I have smoked several bowls in it and I really like it. The Grabow StarFire seemed to smoke really well but it is a little early only had one bowl of HV in it.

Believe it or not I thought about it, but I figured if all things went well with the "Group Potluck Pipe Trade" then we could kick things up a notch the next time and I would have something to sweeten the pot with. I also thought I might have to trade it for some baccy down the road the way prices are going up.:puffy:

I was only kidding , ya know . Those old Barlings are super smokers ... keep it , and down the road you could give it to yer son or whomever in the family . It's a super nice pipe .. I feel in love w/ it at the first picture !

I know your kidding John. :th1: As far as handing it down to my son, he would'nt smoke candy cigarettes he's so paranoid about his health, yet he works in the coal mines operating a continous miner and roof bolter. He is 6'3'' , 24o lbs. of blue twisted steel. He just cleaned out a regional "Tough Man" contest for the second time in as many tries. He harps on me all the time about smoking. If he says anything bad about "My Barling Clementine" I'll have to tune him up a little. Oh, sorry for rambling -

That Barling is one damned fine chunk of wood. Enjoy it!
The Wilshire looks like it's got some pretty nice grain too.

Thanks guys i have a couple of estate barlings and an unsmoked bent one with box and pouch. I done a little checking on the net after reading this and now want to give them a run. I really thought they were just cheap nasty things but now that i look at them again maybe they aren't.

I've been checking around at various pipe shops (online), looking in their estate sections. As usual, certain older pieces are as scarce as tobacco smoke in a courthouse. Comoy Blue Ribands and Specimen Straight Grains, Savinelli Guibleo D'oros, and good old pre-transition Barlings! Again, nice snare, Rews!

Noticed that Premal at Smokers Haven has some estate GBD Uniques, though, which is way cool.
