Ohio's state Senate adopts bill designating a 7-in long 2k year-old stone tobacco pipe as Ohio's official artifact!

Does this help improve the pipe image or cement the codger stereotype? The pipe is certainly an old one.

That's pretty cool! Gives me one more state to think about moving to when I leave California!

2,000 years seems to be a long time to wait for a DGT.

What would they have cut the stone with is what I'm wondering . It's really detailed and crisp compared to what I've seen from the same time frame and area ... even down to Mexico and S America

It's interesting that the "earliest representation we have of a human in all of Ohio history or prehistory..." is a pipe.
Proves there were civilized, thoughtful men in that era. :bing:

I'm surprised the flint gizmo could do the job that well . As far as the skull .. I've read on that a bit and think it's bs . If that were capable at the time they say it was made ........... everything around there would look much different than it did . It's a hoax that someone went to the grave with more than likely

Wonder what the highly potent tobacco that helped communicate with the gods was. If we figure it out maybe we can get some online.

I don't know - just the Mayan ruins and the Burial Mounds of North America are remarkable in their own aspects

Agreed .. but the complexity of that skull is so advanced that if they were capable of that ... why would that be the only thing of that caliber . I just don't buy that they made that skull

Some would say we've come a long way since then. Not me. Some.
