Dr. Pepper works for me. I sip it at room temperature while I smoke.

I avoid this through prolific use of beer. Now I think about it, I avoid a lot of things through prolific use of beer.

I'm pretty sure its this. Tobacco is alkaline, so that would be basic (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). The terrible taste from OJ and toothpaste is because OJ is highly acidic, whereas toothpaste is basic. When they begin to neutralize, they produce by products, which provide the terrible taste you love so much.

I'm assuming this is the same with tobacco, because a lot of pop (soda) phosphoric acid (especially colas), whereas in Dr. Pepper it may be closer to a neutral pH.

Sorry I can't be more specific, I don't remember much of my Chem from two years ago...

I've never noticed this. I drink a fair bit of 'diet' pop, especially in the summer. I do wish that we could get no carbohydrate pop made with splenda up here. Given that splenda was developed and first used in Canada you might think that would be different. But there I go being all rational again. When will I ever learn?

I was reiterating it, giving you more confirmation. You seemed rather unsure of your answer. Not trying to steal your thunder or step on any toes.

I smoke just about anything, and my drink of choice is Dr. Pepper....never had a problem with taste, though I'll get a tingle on the tongue if I've been puffing too hard. The carbonation seems to accentuate any minor tongue bite.
