Perhaps you can assist. I've struck out badly trying to 'date' 2 Pete's I have. Shape- 106 and 15. MADE IN THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND, St Patrick's Day. The band is the Irish Tri-Color...aka the Flag of Ireland. Believe it or not, I have met with negative results from the Peterson factory. Anyone else have one of these Tri-Color pipes? I've had these for several years, but they are estate.

goto Photobucket.com register as a user, it's free, click the upload tab and drag and drop the photos into the box then click the upload tab at the bottom of the box, a list of link will come up on the lower right side, click on the bottom link and it will be copied then come back here and paste the link in your post, you will have to get a link for each photo you want to post one at a time, it gets really easy after you do it a few times.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they started the St. Patrick's pipes in the '80s. It's usually tough to accurately date a pipe, but in the case of the St. Pat's series it may theoretically be possible.

Good call...currently smoking a St Paddy 999, and it seems they might want to put the yr. stamped on them as well.

Photobucket has changed its format slightly; make sure you update your browser or frustration will ensue.

Can't wait to see the pics.

I had taken a few and a review is bad...in comparison to some of these hi-tech digi camera used in the contest. Anyhow, will see how this plays out.

The camera doesn't take the picture, the photographer does. When just showing something for a thread like this forget about artistry though, just try to get it as clear as possible. Rather post a small picture that's sharp than a big picture that's blurry, but better a picture than no picture.

Probably many of the pictures in the contest were taken with less hi-tech cameras than you would think. Mine was a simple as heck point and shoot.

OK, got all photo-bucketed up, however will have to get a memory chip for the camera that will be mine all mine!! I'd rather just use it on my laptop than the family desktop. Will get busy on the morrow and perhaps show some serious pipe porn. Thanx for all the input so far. Daniel, ya had me giggle with your first sentence.

Who did you talk to at the Pete Factory? I find it hard to believe that Peterson didn't even know. I wonder if previous own had a pipe maker create a couple of special bands just for him. People personalize all sorts of things, so a devoted pipe smoker personalizing a pipe or two doesn't sound so far-fetched to me.

    As per pipedia
Saint Patrick's Day: first issued, Mid 1980s (was previously know as Flag Pipe). Each year Peterson launches a range of pipes to celebrate Ireland’s national holiday when everyone in the world wishes to be Irish. Most years they go with a very Irish colour – a shade of green. Prices start around $80.
Also as per piedia this guy has the biggest peterson collection

So, it looks like he's basically got the forerunner of the current St. Paddy series pipes. Very cool.
