hey fellas hope your all well.

So a few days ago i tried the pretersons irish oak snake sent me and one of the things i noticed is that i could get warm and bite if it was rushed.

tried again today and packed a little tighter, and the it was a whole different world.
The tastes were in abundance, it never once bit or even got overly warm.
It was a totally different smoke and something that was thoroughly enjoyable and perfect for a freezing winter day.
And the best thing is i was doing some paper work while smoking and had to relight a few times but it tasted just as good re lit as it did freshly lit.
This is an absolute winner all round, i will deffinitely be investing in a tin in the future.

(its actually knocked the long standing favourite of louisiana flake off its top spot ....shock horror)

It tastes good but I find it way too strong. I'm a wimp!

Does any one know how much, if any, it mellows with age?

Are you thinking Irish Oak or Irish Flake?
Irish Flake is a great smoke but it's wicked strong. Irish Oak definitely has some nicotine, but it's more of a solid medium strength IMO.

I don't smoke C&D Burley flakes, even though I enjoy their flavor because they have so much nicotene content. I don't find Irish Oak to have anywhere near that amount. I'm with you... a medium strength nic kick.

Looks like it's a great day for Peterson here on PSF ( and that's gotta be a good thing  ). First Irish Flake and now Irish Oak...two favourites there alright. Now hows about a round for University Flake? :poke:

Great stuff, glad to hear you're enjoying it Craig!

    Cheers

Irish Oak. Green tin, sherry cask va/per. Too strong for me in quantity. Irish Flake is stronger, and I can't smoke it at all.

I had a tin of it awhile back. I tried it a couple times over the course of a weekend and just couldn't stay with it. I ended up trading it and got a HUGE sampler in return - Thanks Mr. Vig!!! I will stick with the Navy Flake and be happy for the chance.
