Is the mouth bit supposed to come off on the Doctor G Omega
Yes it is. Incidentally, of the 6-7 pipes I own, this is now my second newest, and one of my most commonly used pipes. The bowl size is just right for a nicely bodied aromatic and smokes for about 20-30 minutes, the way I pack it. I must be one of the few who really likes that fake p-style bit. It lets me clench without biting much at all, quite comfy!
I thought it was removable but mine must just be stuck
i did not want to force it and break a new pipe
I haven't had a DG in years but some of them used to have threaded tenons. Try unscrewing the bit rather than pulling it out.
The Omega has a military push bit. However, an unscrewing motion may get it loose enough to pull out...
Don't force it! Put it in the freezer for an hour or two. This will make things shrink and loosen it enough that you can easily remove the stem.
I own 3 Dr Grabow Omega pipes in different finishes and they smoke great and I would recommend them to anyone
Omega is the best pipe in the Doc G lineup.
+1 I am not a fan of Dr G or briar in general, but that is the best of their line, in my cob addled opinion.
I've got a couple of Omegas, and they all came with the stem what seemed totally stuck. Try the recommended freezer trick, then twist clockwise while pulling, with any luck it will snap free and you'll be good to go!
If it is still stuck after a freezer session, smoke it. The heat may be the trick it needs.
Snap may not be the best word in a discussion on tenons.
